Master P has been named as the president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans. The university released a full statement regarding the addition of Percy Miller on Wednesday (Feb. 26).

UNO looked to put a positive light on the situation with a news conference at Lakefront Arena announcing New Orleans native Percy “Master P” Miller as president of basketball operations. Miller is most known as a rap artist, Master P, but has deep ties to basketball having played and coached.

New Orleans native rapper Percy Miller, who goes by the stage name Master P, is returning home. On Thursday, the New Orleans Privateers announced the rapper as the president of basketball operations.

Master P is a New Orleans legend with lifelong ties to basketball — from the “Make ‘Em Say Ugh” video to his occasional stints as a professional player to his son Lil Romeo’s years as a point guard for USC — so in a way his new job makes perfect sense.

Few programs have thought further outside the box than New Orleans. The Privateers are hiring rap icon Master P as their president of basketball operations, they announced Wednesday. Master P, 54, is a native of Uptown New Orleans.
