I have known over twenty fires by charcoal dust, and have seen the facing ways used in foundries on fire a hundred times, and in all cases by scintillations thrown off by spilling the molten iron.
Color is materially influenced by charcoal, and in numbers of instances in a very irregular Way. If you take a dirty black syrup and filter it through burnt charcoal, the color will be removed.
