Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Freddie Freeman was candid when he discussed the injury to his right ankle. On Thursday, it was exactly 12 weeks from surgery the first baseman underwent earlier this offseason.

The World Series MVP is still in the recovery process, but he insists he will be ready for the season opener and playing first base in Tokyo.

Freeman played through a significant ankle injury last season, though you wouldn’t have known it watching his World Series highlights. The eight-time All-Star earned World Series MVP after hitting .300 with four home runs, 12 RBI, and one game-ending grand slam.
