A former Minnesota state senator charged with trying to solicit a minor for prostitution and accused of attempting to obstruct the FBI’s investigation from jail can be released to a halfway house pending trial, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Justin Eichorn, the former Republican Minnesota state senator who resigned last week after being charged with soliciting a minor for sex, was ordered to be released from a county jail and into a halfway home on Wednesday as he waits his trial.

Justin Eichorn, who faces a federal charge of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, will be released to a halfway house in Duluth under several conditions, a judge ruled Wednesday.
