On February 27, 2025, Andrew Gomez Cardona, aged 26, was apprehended at a residence in the 900 block of S. Magnolia Ave., in El Cajon. Cardona has been booked on charges related to the murder of Anthony Trujillo. Gomez informed detectives he was living in Lemon Grove at the time of his arrest.

A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting at a Lemon Grove park that left a man dead, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Anthony Trujillo, a Lemon Grove resident, was found lying in Kunkel Park shortly after 12:40 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined he had been shot in the neck, homicide Lt. Michael Krugh said in a statement.
