There were two confirmed earthquakes in different areas of Georgia this week. Here's where they shook some residents.

SUMMERVILLE, Ga. — A shallow, weak earthquake occurred in northwest Georgia at 8:00 a.m. early Tuesday morning. The magnitude 2.6 earthquake was about 5 miles northwest of Menlo, Georgia, near the Chattooga and Walker county line. It was a very shallow earthquake with a depth of just 6 miles.

Just hours after a 2.6 magnitude earthquake hit northwest Georgia, middle Georgia was hit with a similar earthquake.

Two minor earthquakes occurred in Georgia on Tuesday, one near Summerville and the other near the Twiggs-Blekely county line. The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 2.6, struck at 8 a.m. near Summerville, with an epicenter 9 miles away and a depth of 5.6 miles.
