Fire crews found Cynthia Hess suffering from burns on 90% of her body when they responded to a “reported explosion” near her backyard burn pit.

The Ohio woman died after suffering burns on 90% of her body in what officials called “a horrible freak accident.”

An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a fire at her Pinson home. The fire happened just before 3 p.m. Tuesday on Heritage Place. Center Point Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Horn said crews arrived on the scene to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the residence.
