Adolescence, a new Netflix series starring and co-written Stephen Graham, barrels into several timely (and uncomfortable) topics, including bullying, misogyny, online radicalization, and "incel" culture.

While shooting the British show, which traces the emotional fallout after a teenage stabbing, the camera was handed between operators like a relay race, clipped on and off drones and passed between the fast-moving crew as they followed the actors in and out of buildings and vehicles.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne opened up about what lead them to create this story and the real events that provided inspiration for the harrowing drama.

The star says the special approach to the show from producer Warp Films, co-creator and writer Jack Thorne and director Philip Barantini, meant that he was "the most zen as an actor I've ever been."
