[1] The mainstay of treatment of acute asthma in children is 2-adrenergic agents such as salbutamol delivered in frequent high doses or continuously nebulized together with corticosteroids.

All children were given salbutamol nebulizer therapy consisting of 4 mL of saline with 2.5 mg of salbutamol for children 2 yrs old and younger or 5 mg of salbutamol for children older than 2 yrs.
