Nonprofit Eko submitted 10 ads each to X and Meta containing antisemitic and Islamophobic, AI-generated imagery. X allegedly approved all 10 while Meta allowed five.

Meta and X gave the green light to AI-generated ads that called for the gassing of immigrants in concentration camps and the burning of synagogues ahead of Germany's federal elections on Feb. 23, according to new research from corporate accountability group Ekō.

The group's researchers tested whether the two platforms' ad review systems would approve or reject submissions for ads containing hateful and violent messaging targeting minorities ahead of an election where immigration has taken center stage in mainstream political discourse -- including ads containing anti-Muslim slurs;

Research firm Eko found both platforms failed ad reviews, allowing extremist content promoting concentration camps and violence.
