Arwen's Elven sword, Hadhafang, had a long history prior to the events of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

However, with The Hobbit movies taking place in the Lord of the Rings timeline before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, there were questions as to what the Elf had been up to in between.
