Traveling through Boston by air and by sea could soon get more expensive. Massachusetts Port Authority officials approved a new cruise fee Thursday that will rise to $15 per passenger by 2030.

The fee will rise from $3.25 to $5.50 each way, avoiding a heftier increase to $7.50 that stoked concerns of significantly higher transportation costs for getting to Boston’s airport.
