The developer Respawn Entertainment discontinued work on their undisclosed multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) project.

With the rate at which AAA developers are canceling video game projects, we might all need to content ourselves with our backlogs in future. Respawn Entertainment, a subsidiary of EA and the developers of Titanfall and Apex Legends, has canceled its unannounced "multiplayer first-person shooter experience".

Respawn canceled an unannounced multiplayer FPS, leading to doubts about Titanfall 3. The team working on the canceled project was focused on designing multiplayer FPS experiences. Titanfall 2, released in 2016, received high scores but faced challenges due to poor timing between other big shooter releases.

Respawn Entertainment is widely known for its spectacular first-person shooters. Titanfall 2 is considered to include one of the best modern shooter campaigns and Apex Legends was able to garner a massive audience in a genre filled with gaming giants like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Respawn Entertainment has reportedly canceled an unannounced multiplayer FPS project, according to a LinkedIn post from a former employee. The unannounced project began hiring last May, though it was unclear what theme the project would take on.
