A 15-year-old student was arrested after a gun detection system prevented a weapon from entering Lawrence North High School, according to police and school officials, who confirmed the teen was taken into custody on preliminary charges of possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a firearm by a minor.

A Santa Rosa high school student was arrested for taking a loaded gun to school on Tuesday, police said. Around 1 p.m., police went to Elsie Allen High School for a report that a student may have a gun.

The mother of an East Forsyth Middle School student had a gun in her possession while she was on school grounds Monday, but it was never displayed or brought into the school, the Kernersville Police Department said.

A high school student in Santa Rosa was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly bringing a Glock 9mm handgun to school. According to police, the Santa Rosa Police Department got a tip that a student at Elsie Allen High School was possibly in possession of a handgun.

Campus security confiscated the weapons and determined there was no malicious intent or active threat to students or staff.
