The Washington Commanders announced Friday that they are releasing two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. The move, which frees up $16.5 million in cap space for the Commanders, comes after Washington failed to find a trade partner for the 30-year-old veteran.

The decision was expected after the team couldn’t find a trade partner for Allen, who has spent his entire eight-year NFL career in Washington.
