Severe storms didn't put out Carolina Forest's 2,000-acre wildfire, but officials expressed hope that the desperately-needed rain will help them contain it.

Horry County is under a tornado watch and wind advisory as severe storms are expected by this afternoon. Fire crews continue to battle a 2K+ acre wildfire.

The largest of the brush fires erupted Saturday in Carolina Forest, a community west of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The fire exploded in size overnight, forcing residents in at least half a dozen neighborhoods in the area to flee their homes early Sunday.
