My husband & I are traveling to Boston/Salem in a few weeks to see the sights and specifically visit Halloween haunted houses, escape rooms & real haunted location/witch tours. I was hoping to get recommendations. If you have any advice on the best and worst in the area I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Salem it isn't hard to find all the haunted houses. Witch Mansion is one, Count Orlock's, Chamber of Terror, Nightmare Factory and 13 ghosts (this one also has a real ghost tour). There are a few others but they're very easy to spot in the main Witch Village. Be prepared for long lines if you go there on a weekend, when most of them are opened. Keep in mind that all of them are rather short, less than 5 minutes walking, no matter what they advertise, and are about 10-15 dollars each to get in. The haunted tours in Salem will usually come and find you - they have tons of people soliciting their tours outside in the Witch Village. Gallows Hill, House of Seven Gables, and the Corwin house are real haunted places you can check out off the top of my head. There's also actual paranormal tours and real witches that lead tours as well which are all really cool. Check out Haunt World for a great list - just google Haunt World Ghost tours Massachusetts and their awesome list should come up. Out side of Salem, the lizzie borden house in Fall River is pretty famous. While you're there you can check out Factory of Terror, one of my favorite Massachusetts haunted houses. My second favorite is over at Connor's Farm, where they do a HUGE haunted maze that is seriously great and they have zombie paintball shooting. You also can get the best apple cider donuts freshly made after. Not haunted but delicious haha. It is very New England. Over in Westford is everyone ELSE's favorite haunted scare park which is Witch's Woods, you'll really like that as well. If you want to shoot real zombies through an obstacle course you gotta do Boston Zombie Apocolypse in Abington, it's awesome and gets better every year. Go for the more intense, the less intense is pathetic. While you're there you can head just not even a quarter mile down the road to Barret's Haunted Mansion, a good Haunted House but a little overpriced. In Boston there's a really informative tour called 'Ghosts and Gravestones' by Old Town Trolley that happens at night. Haunted Boston Ghost Tours is also really good. I'm sorry, I really know nothing about escape rooms. :( I know they did just build one in Boston though. One tip from me to you - The Witch Village has ZERO parking if you go there during the Halloween season. If you want to go there take a shuttle or a cab ( not recommended - I would never recommend a Boston cab to ANYONE ) or uber or get a hotel in advance near there that has a shuttle, otherwise you'll be pretty out of luck. If you want to eat there ( Salem Witch Village ) there isn't a whole lot of options and they're all PACKED on weekends (hour, two hour waits), so you should do some research and make reservations or else you'll be eating at the corner Wendy's.
