Going down to the canyon is an easy time, returning back up is far from it . At 7000 ft the air is thinner and the climb to the top is arduous. Allow 1.5 hrs to view the Canyon, well worth the visit.

I agree with 2-3 hours. It is a place of enchantment and atmosphere and not to be rushed. A walk afterwards around the informative store and small museum is worthwhile to tie it all together and a picnic lunch with the Stellars blue jays is a rewarding finish.
