I concur. Manatee Sanctuary Park is perfect for a walk or picnic, but manatees are wild animals and are elusive. There are places in the state of Florida that have manatee habitats, park rangers, and educational experiences. Also, they are a threatened species with very specific habitat needs. Sometimes visitors get frustrated when they don't see them, so I encourage visitors to think of their trip as a visit to a manatee habitat rather than just going to see manatees. Habitat conservation and protection are ongoing efforts. The Florida Fish and Wildlife service is an excellent agency to contact if you want to come to Florida and enjoy our magnificent wildlife.

October is a good time to see them. Not necessarily at this park, they are everywhere in October. If you go to the Manatee Overlook at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, I can almost guarantee you will see several of them. Also at Bair boat launch area nearby.
