From memory I dont recall seeing any playground areas. Hope that helps. Have a great time. You will LOVE central park though, it's amazing!

There is a gate and they definitely take your tickets (which you purchase on the other side of the walkway). The zoo is small, so unless you do the 4D thing, you would easily see everything in two hours. We really debated going because the reviews were mixed, but our 6,11 and 17yr old all enjoyed it and it was a change from the other attractions in NYC. Just be aware that it isn't a whole day activity - but in my opinion, it is priced appropriately for its size and easy to view enclosures.

Like the Natural History museum or the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Empire State Building or the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Buy a hat, scarf and gloves and enjoy every minute!
